Summary:
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) seeks a part-time Program Assistant for the National Transportation Enhancements Clearinghouse (NTEC). NTEC is part of RTC and is housed in the same office in downtown Washington, D.C. NTEC works to provide professionals, policy makers and citizens with information about Transportation Enhancements (TE), including maintaining a comprehensive database of projects throughout the country and analysis of annual spending.

The NTEC Program Assistant works closely with others to operate the National Transportation Enhancements Clearinghouse (NTEC). NTEC is a technical assistance service sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and RTC. NTEC provides information to the public about the Transportation Enhancements (TE) program, the primary federal source of funds for pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Because NTEC is operated with federal funds, NTEC staff do not participate in any of RTC's advocacy efforts.

This position is located in RTC's national office in Washington, D.C. West End/Foggy Bottom area, and is easily accessible by Metro's Red, Orange and Blue lines.

Job Duties:

The program assistant will work with other NTEC staff in maintaining and improving the NTEC website www.enhancements.org including news, state contact information, and image library; organizing the annual TE Seminar; and responding to requests for information about TE.

The Program Assistant will be expected to aid in analysis of TE national spending data. This will include working with Excel and Access to retrieve information, developing charts and tables to analyze data, and participating in report layout and writing. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about Federal Highway Administration transportation financing and bike and pedestrian projects being built around the country, and to develop skills in working with both governmental organizations and nonprofits. The Program Assistant is a part-time position (approximately 16 hours a week). The specific work schedule is negotiable within certain parameters.

None, this position will report directly to the Director of Research.
