The Rail-Trail Hall of Fame

RTC President Keith Laughlin hangs the first Hall of Fame sign on the Katy Trail State Park in Missouri.
Since 2007, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy began has recognized exemplary rail-trails around the country with induction into the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame.

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy selects inductees on merits such as scenic value, high use, trail and trailside amenities, historical significance, excellence in management and maintenance of facility, community connections and geographic distribution.

Hall of Fame rail-trails are awarded special signage along the trail, are featured as a Trail of the Month on Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's website and are highlighted in Rails to Trails magazine.

The five-year program runs through 2011, when the 25th—and final—Rail-Trail Hall of Fame inductee will be selected to coincide with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's 25th Anniversary year.
