National Rail-Trail Network
Beginning in 2008, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) began the National Rail-Trail Network program to recognize significant rail-trails and their critical place within the national system of connected corridors. Rail-trails gain a niche in the national network for their superior connections to communities, trail and trailside amenities, and the high quality of their maintenance and management, among other criteria.
The Rail-Trail Network was designed to complement the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame. Promotion includes free signage for the trails and press outreach, as well as recognition on RTC's Web site and trail-finder search engine, TrailLink.com.
