Metropolitan Grants Program
Supporting trail access and use in America's metropolitan areas
In September 2008, The Coca-Cola Foundation provided a $300,000, two-year grant to Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) to support exemplary trail organizations and initiatives in select metropolitan areas across the country. Facilitated through RTC, the Metropolitan Grants Program (MGP) assist communities in their efforts to provide easy access and increased trail use for more than 1.9 million people living near the selected trails.
RTC makes two types of MGP grants: Community Support Grants are organizational capacity-building grants given to exemplary local trail-building organizations working in select metropolitan areas, and Project Support Grants provide support for trail-development projects that enhance infrastructure, amenities and/or programs to benefit the urban communities surrounding the trail.
