Historic Features This year, Carl Knoch, manger of trail development for RTC's Northeast Regional Office, won two awards for images captured on his backyard pathway, the Heritage Rail Trail County Park in York County, Pa. His shots won in the "Equestrian Trails" and "Health and Fitness" categories. "The trail is only a mile and a half from my home, and I always take my camera along when I go for a ride or a walk," says Knoch. "The image of the four horseback riders passing a bicycle parked along the trail while the cyclists rested on a bench was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. I saw the horseback riders coming, dismounted my bike and took some shots. Same with the senior citizens walking on the trail near New Freedom (pictured at right)."
