Project Description:
The Seaboard Coast Line is an unused railroad corridor from Fayetteville to Wilmington with the potential to become a multi-use trail extending over 80 miles. Support from the BlueCross BlueShield Foundation of North Carolina , allowed Sampson County to engage Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) and conduct a corridor assessment in the county. With additional support through the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation , RTC staff extended the scope of the project by supporting the formation of a local working group to sustain trail development and completing a corridor assessment and vision for the Pender County segment of corridor.
