TrailLink 2007 Special Events:

Zoo Picnic
Wednesday, August 8
5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Join Rails-to-Trails Conservancy at the Oregon Zoo for an opening festivity with music and food. RTC will host a celebratory dinner welcoming TrailLink 2007 attendees to Portland. We'll kick off the night with a gourmet, buffet-style picnic and enjoy spectacular world music at the zoo's amphitheater. Learn more about the Oregon Zoo.

Downtown Portland/Pearl District
Guided Walking Tour
Thursday, August 9
6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Before heading off for dinner on your own, explore via a guided tour the South and North Park Blocks, downtown squares and plazas, westside waterfront trail and the ever-growing Pearl District. View new condominium and mixed-use projects and the open spaces planned near them. We'll walk and take the Portland Streetcar. A walking tour map and list of nearby restaurants will be provided

Eastbank Esplanade and Waterfront Park Loop Guided Walking Tour
Thursday, August 9
6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Walk the Willamette Greenway loop between Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade. (View a Waterfront Loop Map) The Hawthorne Bridge has one-way bike travel (eastbound bikes on south, westbound bikes on north), so you might choose to travel clockwise to be closer to the river. The Steel Bridge at the north features a trail cantilevered from a railroad bridge. Pause at the Japanese-American Historical Plaza at the north end of Waterfront Park and enjoy the art and interpretative panels on the Esplanade. Cyclists should watch their speed and yield to pedestrians.
