Highland County Trail
Years: 2004-2006

Return to Project Portfolio>>

Location:
Hillsboro, Ohio

Prepared for:
Highland County Trails, Inc.

Trail Description:
Picturesque Highland County, Ohio, holds much promise for the creation of trails and greenways. Specifically, the Hillsboro to Lynchburg, the Hillsboro to Mowrystown, and the Greenfield to Paint Creek Road corridors provide unique opportunities for the creation of a multi-use trail system for residents of and visitors to this region.

Project Description:
The potential to eventually connect these trails with the Tri-County Triangle Trail system to the east and the Tri-County Greenbelt to the northwest makes this project particularly promising. In pursuit of those connections, Highland County Trails, Inc. entered into a partnership with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Midwest Office in October 2004. RTC has supported the project steering committee with community outreach initiatives as well as providing mapping assistance.
