Little Miami Scenic Trail Extends Through Terrace Park:
Fans of Ohio's Little Miami Scenic Trail will now be able to pedal a few more miles—and play golf! The Little Miami Scenic Trail, which traverses more than 70 miles from Springfield to Milford, has been extended south another 2.7 miles to the Avoca Park Trailhead and an additional 1.9 miles south of Avoca Park to the Little Miami Golf Center. Governor Bob Taft officially opened the Avoca Park Trail section by riding in from Milford on Saturday, June 10. Not even the early morning, light rain could dampen the spirits of the trail enthusiasts that came out to celebrate the long-anticipated and heavily debated section that links Milford south through Terrace Park to Avoca Park.
The Little Miami Scenic Trail is part of the Ohio to Erie Trail that will link Ohio's three major metropolitan areas via trail from Cincinnati through Columbus all the way to Cleveland. For many years the Little Miami Scenic Trail has been the jewel of Southwest Ohio. The trail winds through beautiful areas like Yellow Springs, Xenia, Caesar Creek, Loveland and now Terrace Park, and parallels the Little Miami River for much of the journey, offering great amenities along the way.
A trail favorite is in the city of Loveland: The thriving trailside community offers a bike shop, sidewalk café and restaurants. There is ample parking for day users of every age and ability as the Little Miami Scenic Trail is ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessible, like many rail-trails.
The current southern terminus at the Little Miami Golf Center includes a 9-hole regulation course, a 9-hole Par 3 course and an 18-hole miniature golf course. The Par 3 course is beautifully kept with rolling hills. Kids are welcome, and you can easily walk the nine holes to make it a fun and healthy day.
