MTGA Helps Map Michigan Rail-Trails
On April 1, Michigan Trails & Greenways Alliance (MTGA) staff and volunteers participated Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's GPS training in anticipation of mapping rail-trails in Michigan. This collaborative mapping endeavor serves two important purposes: contributing to the new series of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy regional guidebooks and on a larger scale, providing Rails-to-Trails Conservancy with trail data to better measure and meet the goal of connecting 90 percent of Americans within three miles of a trail system.
MTGA Executive Director Nancy Krupiarz looks forward to completing the data collection "for an online state trail Web site for trail users to easily access Michigan's beautiful trails." In addition to MTGA's Web site all trail information will be available for free at Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's trail-finder TrailLink.com.
