Monon Trail Ramps Up Recreation Options With Monon Center:

In a marriage of outdoor and indoor activity, in May, Carmel, Ind., is opening the $55 million Monon Center. The Monon Trail essentially bisects the facility, allowing trail users to bike or walk to the center to enjoy the facility. The Monon Center will offer a diverse range of recreational opportunities including and indoor aqua center, an outdoor water park, a two-story gymnasium with three basketball courts and an elevated walking and running track, a 10,000-square-foot fitness center as well as some traditional community areas including computer labs and banquet facilities.

The center is ideal for out-of-towners as well—rather than a membership, the Monon Center will charge a user fee to both residents and non-residents (though, of course, non-residents will pay slightly more). People using the park may enjoy other amenities free of charge including the 10,000-square-foot, urban-style skate park and a five acre stormwater lagoon that will be stocked for fishing.
