Green Goes Mainstream
Thanks to the generous support of the Cleveland-based George Gund Foundation, many of Ohio's environmental organizations are speaking with a more unified voice. "Mainstream Green" is a new coalition funded by The George Gund Foundation, and spearheaded by members of the Ohio League of Conservation Voters (OLCV) Forum--including the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Midwest office--to build public and legislative support for environmental action. This collaborative will work to establish a broader audience for the messages of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Midwest office and other OLCV member organizations.
Bill DeMora, OLCV's executive director credits, "The George Gund Foundation's forward-thinking, progressive mindset" as being instrumental in making this project a reality. According to Mr. DeMora, "Having the members of the environmental/conservation/preservation community come together as a group for a common agenda sends a powerful message that our issues must be taken seriously by our political leaders in Ohio."
The nationally-acclaimed Luntz, Maslansky Strategic Research and The Milenthal Group conducted public opinion surveys utilizing a state-of-the-art "dial" system to scientifically evaluate respondents' response to specific words and concepts. This research resulted in a message dictionary of language that resonates with Ohio citizens, as well as a toolkit of templates, logos, color palettes and other communication pieces which Mainstream Green Coalition members can utilize to craft messages and coordinate outreach.
