2006 Pennsylvania Greenway Sojourn:
What is the Pennsylvania Greenway Sojourn?

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's Northeast Regional Office hosted its fifth annual bike tour, The Pennsylvania Greenway Sojourn, July 22–28, 2006. Three-hundred soon-to-be-friends joined together on this six-day ride featuring rail-trails and about 15 percent road riding. The Pennsylvania tour began at White Haven in the Poconos in the Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Corridor and trekked 200 miles south to Philadelphia. The first half included a day of rafting, a train ride and opportunity to visit Jim Thorpe, an historical railroad and canal hub and once the wealthiest town in America. The Sojourn's second half rolled on into the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, cycling the Schuylkill River Trail and Perkiomen Trail. Overnights offered historical attractions at Berks County Heritage Center, Pottstown and Valley Forge National Park. The ride wrapped up at Philadelphia's Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill.

The Pennsylvania Greenway Sojourn is a camping tour, with hot shower trailer, luggage transport and support van provided.
