A flagship program of RTC, TrailLink.com is the nation’s foremost trail-finder website, with a current catalogue of 5,000 trails spanning a collective 40,000+ miles across the country. Through an extensive set of offerings available online and via TrailLink’s mobile apps—including interactive maps, descriptions, directions, reviews, ratings and user-submitted photos—TrailLink supports more than 10 million users annually in the pursuit of safe and meaningful trail experiences, helping to satisfy the growing demand for trails and active transportation.

Job Location

This position is located in RTC’s national office in downtown Washington, D.C., and is easily accessible from Metro’s red, orange, silver and blue lines. However, due to COVID-19 staff are telecommuting.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will assist the TrailLink.com team in enriching TrailLink with trail photos and other key content, with specific responsibilities that include the following:

  • Loading existing photos from our archives into the appropriate trail record
  • Researching trail photo resources and soliciting the use of photos for TrailLink.com
  • Encouraging photo submissions by the public via creative campaign development and execution through social media, onsite activities and/or email
  • Researching and writing trail descriptions when needed
  • Securing and documenting rights to use collected photos
  • Applying keyword metadata and geotags to photos as needed
  • Assisting in the implementation of Traillink.com marketing strategies

Qualifications

Qualified candidates are undergraduate students or young professionals enrolled in a program related to photography, marketing, journalism/communications, database management or a related field. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

Normal office setting with low to moderate noise level. We will work with successful applicants to solve technology needs to ensure a positive remote work experience.
