Job Location

This position will be based out of our Baltimore, Maryland, field office located at Baltimore’s Impact HUB. The minimum hourly rate is $23/hour for approximately 20 hours/week. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for this position.

Job Summary

This part-time, temporary position will spearhead RTC’s efforts to engage in programming and community outreach for the Baltimore Greenway Trails Network (BGTN). In this role, the Programming & Outreach Coordinator will represent RTC and the BGTN vision at a variety of events throughout Baltimore City from August to October 2022. The coordinator will interact in-person with Baltimore City residents to share the BGTN vision, and listen to and capture their feedback, questions, concerns and needs. The coordinator will also engage with RTC staff and partners.

The position reports to the Mid-Atlantic Director of Trail Development. RTC will provide training to the coordinator regarding the organization’s communications and messaging protocols.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with the Mid-Atlantic Director of Trail Development to develop and maintain a regular programming schedule—including evenings and weekends—between August and October 2022. This will primarily consist of tabling at planned citywide and neighborhood events hosted by a variety of organizations throughout Baltimore City.
  • Build and maintain meaningful connections and engage with Baltimore City residents through discussions about the BGTN vision. This includes listening to and addressing questions and sharing questions and feedback with RTC’s Mid-Atlantic Director of Trail Development for further follow-up.
  • Transport, set up and break down tabling equipment and supplies at various community event sites throughout Baltimore City.
  • Oversee tabling responsibilities and coordinate essential materials, including sign-in sheets, flyers, banners, posters, signs, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Minimum of one year of experience in community engagement, event planning, recreational programming or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • A welcoming and friendly attitude
  • Available to work approximately 20 hours/week, including evenings and weekends, from August to October 2022
  • Must be adaptable, reliable and dependable
  • Must be able to work independently. This position will be required to table and participate in programs/events by themselves.
  • Must be comfortable engaging with Baltimore City’s residents, inclusive of all ages, ethnicities, races, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, political beliefs and sexual orientations
  • Must be able to manage heavy equipment on a regular basis. This position will be required to carry, transport, set up and break down event equipment (table, chairs, professional tent, banners, etc.) and supplies (flyers, maps, sign-up sheets, surveys, etc.) for events throughout Baltimore City.
  • Must be able to use your own vehicle/mode of transportation (car, bike, etc.) to transport event materials.
  • If you are using your own car, you must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Trail or active transportation enthusiast is a plus.

Work Environment

Weekday and weekend events throughout Baltimore City that may have varying noise levels.
