RAIL-TRAIL REPORT

TRAILS TRANSFORM AMERICA

Across the nation, demand for trails and walking and bicycling infrastructure continues to grow.

The main federal law—the FAST Act—currently governing funding of America’s surface transportation programs, is set to expire in September 2020. In early July, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2—the Moving Forward Act—which includes a game-changing transportation reauthorization bill that does much to elevate trails as essential community assets. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has advocated for these visionary policies for years and continues to urge Congress to take bold steps to transform America with safe, connected trail and active transportation networks.
