In the first 25 years of Cardinal Greenways, much focus was placed on the construction of the trail as we see it today. During those first 25 years, maintenance practices were established to keep the trail in safe, working order. Preventative maintenance was the basis for these practices, but even the best preventative maintenance activities cannot keep the trail from the deterioration that comes with time. Therefore, now is the time to begin planning for the long-term integrity and sustainability of the Cardinal Greenway.
