In 2015, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) prepared a draft concept plan to encourage the development of a new, shared-use path in Northeast Washington, D.C., along the New York Avenue corridor from NoMa, an area north of Massachusetts Avenue and east of Union Station, to the U.S. National Arboretum. Utilizing active railroad right-of-way and existing and planned on-street bicycle facilities, this proposed trail will connect to the popular Metropolitan Branch Trail and will provide critical bicycle and pedestrian linkages eastward through Union Market and Ivy City.
The purpose of this document is to summarize the draft concept plan. View the full draft concept plan here.
