A Home Run: 2018 Opening Day for Trails

This year, thousands of people from coast to coast went outside to celebrate the sixth annual Opening Day for Trails (Opening Day). Although the country was a mix of sunshine and snow, trail users came on foot, wheel, hoof, ski and everything in between to kick off the spring season!
And. It. Was. Amazing.
Thanks to everyone who joined us in showing their love for America’s magnificent trails by celebrating Opening Day. And a big thank you to our magnanimous sponsors at Performance Bicycle, Fuji Bikes, KEEN, Topo Designs and Patagonia by providing some great prizes, which made the day extra special!
Here are just a few of our favorite ways trail users spent Opening Day this year. We hope you’ll join us again for next year’s celebration!
Many of the trails in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan are still snow-covered on opening day....but that's okay with me! #RTCOpeningDay pic.twitter.com/np7p7gAC3J

Tons of people participated by hitting the trail solo or with a pal …

And many chose to join the 175-plus special Opening Day events that were planned in 30 states this year—including around 100 bike rides conducted by our friends at Performance Bicycle!
Plus, the six fun events the RTC team helped lead in Richmond, California, Cleveland and Yellow Springs, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, the Washington, D.C. region, and Camden, New Jersey, (which, courtesy of a late-spring snow, you can still attend on May 20!).
