This year marks RTC’s fifth annual Opening Day for Trails! On Saturday, April 8, 2017, people across the nation will kick off the spring trail season by hitting their favorite trails for a walk, run, ride or special event.

Celebrate Opening Day for Trails along the nation’s largest paved trail network!

Stop by Yellow Springs Station, Xenia Station and Un Mundo Café (Springfield) to visit with local and regional trail groups—who will be sharing lots of information and goodies like the NEW Miami Valley Bikeways Map! Signature events include the dedication of U.S. Bike Route 50 at the Little Miami Prairie Grass Trailhead in London and the "Bike for the Health of It!" Wolf Creek Trail Ride.

Sun came streaming over the Capitol dome early on Saturday and illuminated Kingman Island, the site of Washington, D.C.’s 2016 Opening Day for Trails celebration. The island, which rests in the Anacostia River, was soon overflowing with trail lovers ready to pitch in. And just like baseball’s Opening Day each spring, the excitement was palpable.
