DuPage County DOT- Gary Av Trail from Great Western Trail to Army Trail Rd This project includes construction of an approximately 3 mile long 8-10ft wide multi-purpose trail extending north from the Great Western Trail near St. Charles Road to Army Trail Road (including a small connecor trail to the Lies Road Trail) in Carol Stream, Illinois in DuPage County. The proposed multi-purpose trail adjacent to Gary Avenue is within currently owned county ROW improving both pedestrian and bicycle travel and improving access to transit. Running north-south, the Gary Avenue Trail originates on the south end at a major regional trail -- the 11-mile long Great Western Trail that extends east-west in central DuPage County from Villa Park to West Chicago linking 7 communities and numerous local destinations, including an industrial park, a regional mall (Stradford Square), medium density housing, and Carol Stream Village Hall, and Carol Stream Park District's recreation complex. The proposed Gary Avenue trail connects with the existing Lies Road Trail - a 3-mile trail that runs through central Carol Stream and connects to the West Branch DuPage River Trail.
