Public Invited to Celebrate Grand Opening of New Midwest Office

YELLOW SPRINGS, OHIO – Highlighting Yellow Springs’ bikeable and walkable streets, creative character and location near the Little Miami Scenic Trail, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) has relocated its Midwest Regional Office to the Miami River Valley. The public, the press and invited guests can participate in this family-friendly event involving food, fun, informational booths and more! Giveaways will include bike helmets, T-shirts, bags, trail guides, maps and other trail-friendly goods.

RTC is partnering with Bike Miami Valley, Greene County Parks & Trails, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, Five Rivers MetroParks, Miami County Parks, SPOKES, YS Active Transportation Committee, Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce, Village Cyclery, Central Ohio Greenways and Tri-State Trails, local health community members and regional environmental groups.

Saturday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

11 a.m.: Films highlighting history of RTC at Little Art Theatre, 247 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs
1 - 4 p.m.: Open House & Fair at RTC Midwest Regional Office, 716 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs
2 p.m.: Remarks from elected officials/regional leaders, Link Bike Share demo and ribbon cutting

RTC’s Yellow Springs office will be the hub for trails, walking and biking advocacy and initiatives in Ohio and throughout the Midwest. RTC and partners will highlight the great strides that are being made with active transportation in the region, including current efforts for trail expansion. The Little Miami Scenic Trail, an RTC Rail-Trail Hall of Fame designee, passes through Yellow Springs within blocks of the new office. The Midwest RTC team encourages everyone in the region to bike in to the village!
