WEBINAR- Understanding Legal Issues Affecting Rails to Trails Conversions
Since Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s founding, we have been the nation’s foremost—and in most cases, only—legal advocate for rail-trails in the nonprofit sector. Under the direction of Andrea Ferster, RTC’s general counsel, our legal program has participated in numerous landmark rail-trail cases and supported countless trail managers, trail advocates and their legal counsel across the United States. In this webinar, Andrea will help trail professionals understand the assistance that RTC’s legal program provides in response to legal questions on the implementation of railbanking, rail-trail conversions and related policy issues. She will also address legal challenges that rail-trail managers may face and how to avoid or respond to them. Additionally, Andrea will provide an overview of recent legal developments and their impact on the rights and responsibilities of rail-trail managers. A facilitated discussion will follow the presentation, offering participants the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences.
