The Great American Rail-Trail® is the nation’s first cross-country, multiuse trail—stretching 3,700+ miles between Washington, D.C., and Washington state. Here we get a sneak peek of RTC’s upcoming 2026 guidebook, highlighting many of the diverse trails and majestic landscapes you’ll find along route, including the Appalachian forests of the Mid-Atlantic, the prairies and pastoral landscapes of the Midwest, the vast expanses of the Great Plains, the rugged beauty of the mountain West, and vibrant cultural hubs, such as Seattle and Washington, D.C.!
