RTC Rail-Trail Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Members of the media are invited to attend the induction ceremony of the latest Rails-to-Trail Conservancy (RTC) Hall of Fame trail, the Heritage Rail-Trail County Park and the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail.

RTC is hosting an induction ceremony to celebrate the addition of the Heritage Rail-Trail County Park and the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail into the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame.

The festivities begin with the induction ceremony in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, where the two trails meet. After the ceremony, guests who have registered will board an historic steam train and ride 10 miles to Hanover Junction and back. Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) selected the trail as the Trail of the Year.

RTC is partnering with Pennsylvania DCNR, York County Rail Trail Authority, York County Department of Parks and Recreation and Maryland Department of Natural Resources on this event.

Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at 11 a.m. The train will leave after the ceremony and will return at 2 p.m.

Steam Into History, 2 West Main St., New Freedom, PA 17349. See a map here.

The Heritage Rail-Trail County Park in Pennsylvania and the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail in Maryland share the same historic rail corridor and span 44-miles across the Mason-Dixon line. For more information, visit RTC’s Rail-Trail Hall of Fame webpage.

The train is sold out, but limited seats may become available and distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
